K.C. Atha is the principal Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategist, facilitator, and DEI culture auditor at Sembramos and subcontracts with other independent consultants and agencies to implement various projects. K.C.’s main focus is helping socially conscious leaders identify and bridge disconnects between their intentions and outcomes. K.C. advises a wide range of clients based in the U.S., Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East since 2006.

As an entrepreneur, community organizer, and consultant, she has fine-tuned her ability to work in dynamic environments with diverse, international audiences. K.C. has gained her deep knowledge and wisdom through her diverse personal and professional experiences which includes her work as a congressional staffer on Capitol Hill, a grassroots organizer in D.C., a human rights reporter in Jerusalem & the West Bank, an economic development specialist in El Salvador, and co-founder of a tech start-up which leveraged technology to support the safety of activists and journalists in closed and closing societies.

The through-line of her work and focus is partnering with conscious leaders aiming to challenge oppression and supremacy culture in service of making the world a place where all people feel safe, seen, heard, inspired, and fulfilled. Her current focus is the public sector where she consults on organizational development through an anti-oppression intersectional lens. She helps leaders evolve their policies and practices to produce outcomes aligned with their DEI intentions and values. This often starts with an organizational DEI audit alongside professional development and learning via workshops and coaching. This is followed by planning and implementation support in embedding the policies and practices that bridge the disconnects and create fertile ground for cultivating and sustaining DEI in the organization.

K.C. earned her Masters of Arts in International Administration with an emphasis in human rights and cross-cultural perspectives. Additionally, she earned bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Sociology.
